About the Position

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Transitional Housing Support Relief Worker to join our team at the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto (NCCT). As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to Aboriginal youth living in our transitional housing program.



Key Responsibilities


  • Provide individualized support to Aboriginal youth, focusing on their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
  • Develop and implement personalized care plans, ensuring the youth's goals and needs are met.
  • Collaborate with the Youth Case Management team to ensure a safe and supportive living environment.
  • Work closely with community agencies to coordinate access to health services, education, and life skills training.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed, ensuring the youth's safety and well-being.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the NCCT's programs and services, upholding the organization's values and mission.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:




  • A degree or diploma in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with vulnerable youth, preferably in an Indigenous organization or community.
  • Knowledge of community resources, counseling, and social work practices, particularly with high-risk Indigenous youth.
  • Support for the Recovery Model, Harm Reduction, and Anti-Oppressive Framework.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check clearance.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness of Indigenous communities and cultures.
  • Experience working in an on-site housing setting, providing services in a residential environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Crisis intervention skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
