About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Educator to join our team at the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies. As an Educator, you will play a critical role in developing and delivering innovative educational programs that promote Holocaust education, genocide prevention, and human rights awareness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead engaging educational programs for elementary and high school students across Canada, both in-person and virtually.
  • Contribute to the development of new educational programs and experiences that align with the goals of FSWC.
  • Build and maintain relationships with survivor communities, teachers, and community educators to ensure repeat and frequent re-booking.
  • Assist with the planning, promotion, and successful execution of all educational events.
  • Support other FSWC team members as needed, leading up to and during annual organizational events.
Requirements
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of Holocaust and genocide education, as well as the fight against hate, discrimination, and antisemitism.
  • Excellent presentation skills and creative approaches to generating interactivity with students in both virtual and in-person formats.
  • Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent experience, along with a comprehensive knowledge of curriculum expectations.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle that allows you to travel to schools.
  • Superior relationship-building and communication skills, ensuring the ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • A solid understanding of technology and how to navigate a variety of platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A knowledge and passion about the Holocaust, genocide, and human rights issues from both an historical and contemporary perspective.
  • Bachelor's degree in an associated field.
  • Experience working with elementary and/or high school-aged students.
  • Ability to teach in French an asset.
