Job Title: Director of Academic Celebrations and Events

Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Academic Celebrations and Events. This role will be responsible for overseeing the planning and coordination of various academic ceremonies, events, and celebrations throughout the university.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 6 years of experience in event planning, management, or a related field. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and external vendors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of event operations, budgeting, and logistics, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. They will also have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all events are executed flawlessly and exceed expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate various academic ceremonies, events, and celebrations, including Commencement, Convocation, and December Recognition.
  • Manage and oversee meeting planning, working closely with committees to strategize new ideas, gather feedback, and make modifications based on feedback.
  • Recruit and train volunteer staff personnel, managing their schedules and providing necessary support and resources.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, working with university purchasing and legal to ensure compliance with university policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Public Affairs, MarComm, and Event Services, to promote university events and enhance the overall student experience.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in event planning, management, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
