Health and Safety Coordinator

At DIRTT, we're committed to creating a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and partners. As a Health & Safety Coordinator, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our workplace meets the highest standards of safety and compliance.
Safety Coordination
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Coordinate safety orientations, manage certificates, and procure personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with the Safety Manager and Director to plan and execute safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, accidents, and near misses, prepare reports, and facilitate root cause analysis for management and regulatory agencies as necessary.
- Take meeting minutes for the Joint Health and Safety Committee, Better Together meetings, and Safety minutes.
- Ensure all safety equipment is properly maintained and accessible, and that employees are trained on its use.
- Manage and update safety documentation, including safety data sheets (SDS) and safety manuals.
- Monitor and report on safety compliance and performance metrics and make recommendations for improvements.
- Assist in emergency response planning and participate in safety drills and exercises.
- Stay current with industry best practices, regulations, and standards related to workplace safety.
- Act as a point of contact for employees to report safety concerns and provide guidance on safety-related inquiries.
- Prepare for COR audits by booking interviews, collecting documents, etc.
- Leverage technology to support the safety program (SharePoint, create PowerPoint presentations, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
Requirements
- Experience in workplace health and safety is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and engage employees.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in safety recordkeeping and reporting.
- Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and mitigate safety risks.
