About the Role:

Sun Life Financial is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Content Director to lead our digital content strategy and team. As a key member of our marketing team, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive content plan that drives awareness, consideration, and conversion for our Canadian clients and prospects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a content strategy that aligns with our business objectives and industry best practices.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to set targets and monitor content performance, using data to inform and evolve our content approach.
  • Ensure all digital content is search engine optimized and tailored to meet the needs of our clients.
  • Lead a team of writers, content strategists, and social media experts to create engaging and effective content across multiple channels.
  • Collaborate with product marketing teams and business units to develop thought leadership and digital content that supports our go-to-market plans.
  • Provide editorial reviews of third-party content sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our content and social media operating model, tools, and platforms to drive business objectives and content excellence.
  • Help create consistency across all digital outbound content and internal/external communication platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices in content, social media, and SEO to ensure high performance from our content.
  • Oversee budget expenses and forecast for the content team.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant digital content experience in B2C and B2B marketing, product marketing, content marketing, and social media.
  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in content development across multiple channels, with a strong understanding of SEO best practices and social media platforms.
  • Experience with social media management platforms like Hootsuite, Sprinklr, and Sprout.
  • Crisis communication management.
  • Fluent in English – both written and verbal.

Nice to Have:

  • Proficiency with SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Moz, and content management systems like WordPress.
  • Experience working with content creators.
