About the Role

At Brandt, we are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our Halifax Construction & Forestry team.

This is a full-time position working in a shop environment, responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry based equipment and attachments.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with heavy duty equipment and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the working condition of heavy equipment, diagnose issues, assemble/disassemble, order parts, and perform repairs efficiently and effectively.
  • Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Utilize related instruments, hand tools, power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems to complete tasks.
  • Accurately document machine information, actions taken, and time spent on work orders.
  • Continuously assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely and to accepted standards.
  • Use computer applications and information systems to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis.
  • Locate parts using catalogues and order from parts personnel.
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required.
Requirements:
  • Prior mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment is preferred.
  • Certified Journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade is preferred.
  • A commitment to customer service and service excellence is essential.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel is necessary.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.
Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, our employees receive comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a retirement savings plan.
