Mechanical Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team at Smith + Andersen in Halifax, NS. As a key member of our mechanical building services team, you will play a vital role in delivering projects that exceed client expectations.
About the RoleThis is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Designer to work on a wide range of projects, from new construction to renovations and expansions. You will be responsible for designing building systems, preparing drawings and specifications, and collaborating with project consultants to ensure seamless project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop building systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, fire protection, plumbing, and drainage systems
- Prepare detailed drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Collaborate with project consultants, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to coordinate design requirements and ensure timely project delivery
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to source equipment and materials
- Assist in construction administration, reviewing shop drawings and conducting site visits as needed
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- A degree or diploma in mechanical engineering or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in a consulting firm
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and other CAD software
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Familiarity with building codes and regulations, particularly in Canada
