We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Halifax, NS. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical designs and technical documents for various projects.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical building services design, with a minimum of five years of experience working on complex projects. You will be proficient in Autodesk Revit 2017 or newer and have excellent knowledge of mechanical layouts and systems. Additionally, you should have working knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, and Dynamo software.

In this role, you will work closely with project consultants, suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure that all design requirements are met. You will also assist in construction administration by reviewing equipment shop drawings and conducting site visits, as well as preparing change notices and site instructions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design building systems in accordance with municipal or provincial building codes and other applicable standards;
  • Develop layouts and design of mechanical building systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, fire protection systems, plumbing, and drainage systems;
  • Create project-specific details to clarify project scope and create building sections to assist with interference coordination between building systems;
  • Prepare calculations to size ductwork, gas, HVAC, piping, plumbing, and drainage, incorporating calculations into technical drawings;
  • Liaise with all project consultants, coordinate design requirements with all disciplines, and supervise drawings between other disciplines;
  • Assist in construction administration by reviewing equipment shop drawings and conducting site visits, site reviews, and preparing change notices, site instructions, etc.
Requirements
  • Diploma/Degree from a mechanical building services/engineering program;
  • Knowledge and experience working with Autodesk Revit 2017 or newer, with exposure to mechanical layouts and systems;
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, and Dynamo software;
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office suites, specifically Word and Excel;
  • Working knowledge with various mechanical systems, such as heating, air conditioning, plumbing systems, etc.
