About the Role

The Abbotsford School District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Instruction - Curriculum to join our team. As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will play a critical role in advancing the vision and mission of our district.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead the District's Curriculum Department, ensuring the development and implementation of high-quality educational programs.
  • Define and implement long-term goals, strategies, and plans, aligned with the District's strategic plan.
  • Oversee the Framework for Enhancing Student Learning, supporting school plans and providing leadership on District-wide assessment practices.
  • Develop and implement instructional resources and programs, monitoring and reporting on results achieved.
  • Engage stakeholders, sponsor innovation, and develop individual and team leadership capacity to ensure the quality of educational programs and promote equitable and inclusive schools.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • A member in good standing with the Teacher Regulation Branch.
  • Successful leadership experience in the public school system, preferably at both the school and district levels.
  • Deep understanding and experience with K-12 literacy, numeracy, inquiry, assessment, and competency-based learning pedagogies.
  • Knowledge and recognition of Indigenous education and commitment to reconciliation practices.
  • Experience leading a range of educational priorities.
  • Ability to build an effective leadership team and create a positive adult learning environment.
  • Systems sensibility, political awareness, and change management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make complex and ethical decisions in service of students.
  • Solid understanding of public education governance.
  • Demonstration of BCSSA's Leadership Competencies and district leadership competencies, with particular attention to resilience, capacity-building, visionary leadership, decision-making, and learning leadership.
