The Abbotsford School District is seeking a visionary leader to fill the position of Director of Instruction - Curriculum. This role is responsible for overseeing the District's Curriculum Department and advancing the vision and mission of the district.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and lead the Curriculum Department to ensure the development and implementation of high-quality educational programs.
- Define and implement long-term goals, strategies, and plans to enhance student learning and achievement.
- Oversee the Framework for Enhancing Student Learning and support school plans to ensure alignment with district goals.
- Provide leadership and direction on district-wide assessment practices, including tracking and communicating student learning.
- Supervise the development and implementation of instructional resources and programs to support student learning.
- Monitor and report on results achieved, with a focus on student learning and achievement.
- A Master's degree in a relevant field.
- A member in good standing with the Teacher Regulation Branch.
- Successful leadership experience in the public school system, preferably at both the school and district levels.
- Deep understanding and experience with K-12 literacy, numeracy, inquiry, assessment, and competency-based learning pedagogies.
- Knowledge and recognition of Indigenous education and commitment to reconciliation practices.
- Experience leading a range of educational priorities.
- Ability to build an effective leadership team and create a positive adult learning environment.
- Systems sensibility, political awareness, and change management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to make complex and ethical decisions in service of students.
- Solid understanding of public education governance.
- Demonstration of BCSSA's Leadership Competencies and district leadership competencies, with particular attention to resilience, capacity-building, visionary leadership, decision-making, and learning leadership.
