Nuclear Canada BusinessWe are currently experiencing significant growth in our Nuclear Canada business, driven by planned New Build projects domestically and internationally. Our agreement with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to deliver the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) is spearheading the deployment of the GEH BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) before the end of the decade.
Job DescriptionThe Deputy Program Director (DPD) will report to the DPD, DNNP and be responsible for assigned aspects of engineering, procurement and construction delivery for a New Nuclear program. This role will require leadership of all project team members, developing work execution plans, assignment of or recruitment of project team members, development of overall work breakdown structure (WBS), project deliverables, organizational chart, budget, schedule, subcontract and supplier strategy, risk management, project forecast and people forecasting and levelling (PFL) for the project.
Key Responsibilities- Project Planning and Scope Definition: Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Define the project scope and deliverables in compliance with contract documents and client requirements.
- Team Leadership and Coordination: Assemble and lead a multidisciplinary project team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- People Management: Maintain supervisory org. and manage career development of assigned project resources. Assemble a project team through recruiting, interviewing and/or selecting staff with appropriate skills and establishing training and development programs suitable for the work.
- Contract and Risk Management: Manage all aspects of contract administration, including scope and change control, subcontractor and supplier management, and risk management.
- Safety and Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to safety standards and quality requirements. Develop and enforce safety programs, training, and corrective action plans.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Apply key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor project health and performance.
- Procurement and Supply Chain Management: Responsible for all contract management including scope & change control, requirements management, subcontractor and supplier management.
- Ethical and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all project activities comply with corporate standards of ethical conduct and security protocols.
- Nuclear Safety: Accountable for all aspects of nuclear and industrial safety.
- Project Experience: 10+ years of experience leading or supporting projects in construction, manufacturing, or engineering services.
- Nuclear Supply Chain: Understanding of nuclear supply chain and materials management principles.
- Team Building: Ability to build and inspire a team to work towards common goals.
- People Management: Experience managing direct reports within a project delivery functional support model.
- Leadership: Lead by example, setting high standards for Health & Safety and Nuclear Safety Culture.
- Quality Assurance: Appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and understand construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Project Delivery: Understanding of project delivery methodology.
- Safety Knowledge: Working knowledge of industrial safety and nuclear safety culture.
- Nuclear Experience: Experience in Nuclear Reactor new design and construction projects required.
- Educational Background: BSc in Engineering or equivalent is an asset.
- Certifications: PMP certification is an asset.
