The Strategic Project Lead will report to the Director, New Build Strategies & Capture, and be responsible for executing various initiatives and projects critical to successful deployment of new nuclear builds. This role requires leadership of all project team members, including engineering, procurement, project management, construction, and interfacing with key internal and external stakeholders.

The individual must have sound experience in project delivery and execution methodology, including an understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, contract management, and project controls principles. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for maintaining positive professional interface relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The Strategic Project Lead will be responsible for delivering the full project lifecycle, focusing on early works and Definition Phase activities, contributing to proposal activities, client negotiations, and setting the project on a path to success. Routine responsibilities include project reporting, implementation and oversight of project governance and procedures, progress toward milestones, stakeholder management, realization of project goals, assignment or recruitment of project team members, development of the overall work breakdown structure (WBS), project deliverables, organizational chart, budget, schedule, subcontract and supplier strategy, risk management, project forecast, and people forecasting and levelling (PFL) for the project.

This role will be based in Pickering, ON. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 10+ years' experience supporting various types of projects, including construction, manufacturing, or engineering services projects.
  • 3+ years' experience leading individuals and teams.
  • Experience in managing complex, interdependent Primavera-6 project schedules.
  • Experience in complex Joint Venture, consortium, or Integrated Project Delivery models.
  • Strategic planning and execution experience.
  • Understanding of large EPC work, including subcontracts, prime contract management.
  • A servant leader who can inspire a team to perform and work together towards a common goal.
  • Lead by example and set high standards for Health & Safety and Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • An appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry.
  • Understanding of project delivery methodology, including earned value, critical path scheduling, prime contract and subcontract management, procurement and supply chain methodology, and construction work packaging and associated inspection and test plans.
