About this Opportunity

Mt. Royal University is seeking an experienced Strategic HR Business Partner to join its Human Resources team.

The successful candidate will provide strategic HR support to various faculties and units, focusing on employee and labour relations, talent management, change management, performance management, compensation, and workforce restoration.

Responsibilities include leading efforts to resolve complex employee and labour relations issues, providing guidance on provincial and federal legislation, and acting as lead investigator in workplace complaints.

This role requires advanced HR subject matter expertise, effective communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, as well as a proactive and solution-oriented approach.

The ideal candidate will possess a university degree in a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in a complex human resources generalist capacity.

A strong background in employee and labour relations, talent management, and organizational development is essential, along with knowledge of applicable HR legislation, policies, and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic HR goals and plans to support faculty and departmental business strategies
  • Provide leadership by demonstrating a full understanding of faculty and departmental business plans, trends, and needs
  • Connect university operating strategies, plans, and procedures to faculty and departmental priorities
  • Support senior leaders in providing and interpreting HR data required for decision-making
  • Lead and manage change in support of faculty and departmental business strategies

Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in a complex human resources generalist capacity
  • Experience in a post-secondary environment preferred
  • Strong HR generalist background with extensive experience in employee and labour relations, talent management

Salary: $96,850-$122,474 per annum
