Job Summary

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Student Information Support Specialist to join our team in the Faculty of Arts. As a key member of our Arts Academic Advising Services, you will provide exceptional support to students, faculty, and staff by delivering accurate and timely information on student records, registration, and academic concessions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to student inquiries and provide guidance on degree requirements, course planning, and registration processes.
  • Use the Student Information System (SIS), Degree Audit (DAG), and Workday Student to provide accurate information and support to students.
  • Process documentation for letters of permission, academic concessions, and graduation pending or confirmation letters.
  • Assist with the evaluation and adjudication of graduation applications.
  • Develop and deliver training to new and inexperienced staff members on the use of SIS, DAG, and Workday Student.
  • Collaborate with other departments and units to ensure seamless delivery of student services.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and respond to student concerns in a timely and respectful manner.
Requirements
  • High school graduation and two-year post-secondary diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ability to learn new software applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Workday and ability to learn new software applications.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to determine the nature and urgency of inquiries and issues, and triage appropriately.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify key information and issues, and effectively resolve.
