Role Overview

Beedie Luminaries is a social-profit enterprise dedicated to breaking down barriers to education and providing comprehensive support for promising students facing financial adversity. As the Postsecondary Student Support Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering wrap-around services and leading the development of the Mentorship Program.

Mentorship Program Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and evaluation of various mentorship platforms to recommend the most suitable solution for the program.
  • Oversee the implementation and management of the new platform.
  • Promote participant screening, training, matching, support, supervision, recognition, and closure activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and update marketing materials, policy, and procedure manuals as needed.
  • Distribute marketing materials and deliver presentations to targeted organizations and at key community events.
  • Create and implement an ongoing mentor recruitment plan.
  • Build relationships with schools, alumni, corporate, and community-based partners.
  • Ensure excellent onboarding experiences for students and mentors through inquiry and orientation processes.
  • Manage group events, recognition activities, and program evaluation reports.
Student Services Responsibilities
  • Coordinate student support services according to scholarship program guidelines and respond to inquiries from pre-selection through graduation.
  • Support new students' orientation and onboarding activities.
  • Collaborate with the Student Success Team to design surveys, reports, and monitor academic experience and progress.
  • Coordinate internship job placement opportunities.
  • Enhance the student experience by supporting administrative functions.
  • Update student records in the database system.
  • Provide regular program update reports and recommend future improvements.
  • Maintain proactive communication with team members to ensure student success.
  • Contribute ideas and content supporting overall awareness and marketing efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a focus on social work, psychology, education, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience working directly with postsecondary students, preferably in mentoring, student development, or youth programs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mentoring program policies and procedures within a higher education setting.
  • Strong proficiency in CRM systems for data input, management, and report generation.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Flexible approach to taking on significant responsibilities with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, particularly in postsecondary or urban community settings, is preferred.
Compensation

$70,000 per year, commensurate with experience
