About the Opportunity

The Community Health Board Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the community health boards to achieve their mandate as outlined in the Health Authorities Act and regulations. This position is responsible for facilitating a collaborative community health planning cycle, using a population health approach and applying the principles of community development and health promotion.

The successful candidate will provide support to the community health boards, including organizational development, Board recruitment, volunteer support, training, and other functions that contribute to the successful ongoing operations of Community Health Boards.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join the Public Engagement and Community Health Boards Support team and contribute to the development of community health plans that promote the health and well-being of Nova Scotians.

About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Education/Promotion, Public Health, Community Development, Adult Education, or a combination of relevant education and work experience in community health or community development.
  • 2 years of related experience required.
  • Foundations of Public Participation Certificate (International Association for Public Participation) is considered an asset.
  • Cultural competency and cultural safety training considered an asset.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations, groups, or projects.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of the principles of health promotion, the prevention continuum, and population health assessment.
  • Knowledge and experience with program planning and evaluation methods (including logic models).
  • Experience in community health planning, community development, and community or public engagement.
  • Experience in volunteer board development, working with diverse groups and teams in a community setting.
  • Demonstrated skills in report writing, facilitation, and knowledge of the principles of adult education.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
  • Ability to think and act independently and strategically.
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a larger team.
  • Ability to organize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
Hours
  • Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly.
Compensation and Benefits

$34.79 - $42.06 Hourly.

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
