Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at the Health Sciences Centre. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide therapeutic, diagnostic, technical, and teaching respiratory therapy services to patients.


Key Responsibilities



  • Provide respiratory therapy services: You will be responsible for providing therapeutic, diagnostic, technical, and teaching respiratory therapy services to patients consistent with discipline and professional standards.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare teams: You will work collaboratively with healthcare teams to provide patient-centered care and support.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans: You will develop and implement treatment plans that meet the individual needs of patients.
  • Provide education and training: You will provide education and training to patients, families, and healthcare teams on respiratory therapy services and techniques.

Requirements and Qualifications



  • Education and certification: You must have an Entry-to-practice academic credential in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited Canadian program or a MARRT approved equivalent, if internationally educated.
  • Registration and licensure: You must be currently registered with the MARRT and have current registration/membership in the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) is preferred.
  • Experience and skills: You must have recent and related clinical experience and possess effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships, and ability to work cooperatively with other disciplines.

Working Conditions



  • Physical demands: You must be able to stand and walk and perform manual ventilation with one or both hands for prolonged periods, lift heavy medical equipment, push wheeled medical equipment, and move H and M size gas cylinders.
  • Work environment: You may be required to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, and may be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress, and may encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/staff/visitors.
