Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Transportation Project Engineer to join our team at the Ministry of Transportation. As a key member of our Operational Traffic Engineering team, you will play a lead role in conducting traffic engineering research and developing traffic engineering policies, procedures, and standards.

About the Role:

  • Develop, review, and implement policies, standards, and specifications for traffic operations, traffic control devices and systems, and highway safety initiatives.
  • Provide engineering expertise to regions, consultants, and external partners on traffic control, traffic operations, and traffic control devices and systems.
  • Manage transportation projects and provide engineering, technical, and administrative direction to staff and consultants.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement effective traffic management strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date with local, national, and international standards and practices related to highway safety and traffic engineering.

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of civil engineering principles related to highway safety and traffic engineering.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced engineering and mathematical skills, including knowledge of capacity calculations and complex intersection operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide guidance to various stakeholders.
  • Licenses and certifications: Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and a valid G license or equivalent.
