Medical Director for BC First Nations Health Initiatives

About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Medical Director to lead our medical staff and initiatives in BC's First Nations health sector. As a key member of our team, you will provide strategic leadership and expertise in medical governance, credentialing, and contracting.
Responsibilities include developing and implementing human resource strategies, establishing qualifications, recruitment, compensation models, cultural safety standards, continuing medical education, leadership development programs, and more. You will also work closely with provincial and federal authorities to advance medical governance matters and integrate the medical staff lens into project planning and decision-making processes.

Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health Administration, Health Care Administration, or Business Administration, or relevant field;
- Master's degree an asset;
- Relevant, recent, and significant experience working with medical staff and within BC's healthcare system (usually acquired over 8-10 years);
- Experience working with Indigenous individuals, communities, and/or organizations in health and wellness;
- Experience planning, supervising, and evaluating programs and services;
- In-depth knowledge of FNHA's work, the health and wellness landscape, and governance model in BC as related to First Nations;
- Knowledge of Physician compensation models, the Physician Master Agreement, Joint Standing Committees, and contract templates;
- Knowledge of Nurse Practitioners' contracts and compensation models;
- In-depth knowledge of First Nations health and wellness system needs and social determinants of health in BC;
- Knowledge of the Primary Care landscape in BC, particularly as related to BC First Nation-led projects;
- Knowledge and understanding of Public Health systems and Indigenous health systems in BC.
