Mental Health Support Specialist

As a Mental Health Support Specialist at Fraser Health, you will be working with individuals who are experiencing mental health and substance use issues. You will provide outreach community-based support services, assist in mental health and substance use treatment, and provide life skills training and coaching to help clients achieve independence and self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support to clients to help them achieve their goals and improve their quality of life;
- Develop and implement personalized plans of care to meet the unique needs of each client;
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients;
- Provide education and training on life skills, such as meal planning, household management, and budgeting;
- Motivate and assist clients in achieving their goals and promoting positive change and independence;
- Observe and monitor clients in accordance with established procedures, and respond to potential emergency or crisis situations;
- Document client progress and maintain accurate records;
- Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education opportunities to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills.
- Diploma in Community Social Services, such as Mental Health Worker, Community Health Worker, or Social Services Worker, including post-secondary education in counselling skills training;
- Two years recent related experience working with individuals with mental illness/substance use issues, including teaching life skills;
- Current CPR certificate and current Food Safe certificate;
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence and access to personal vehicle with appropriate business insurance coverage;
- Sound judgment and good observation skills, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and ability to work cooperatively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
$54,992 - $71,482 per year, depending on experience.
