We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team as a Mental Health Nurse Specialist. Job SummaryThe successful candidate will provide treatment and care management services to individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders, working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team-based model of care. This includes conducting mental health assessments, developing and implementing comprehensive treatment plans, administering prescribed medications, and monitoring client progress.
SalaryThe salary for this position is estimated to be CAD $51,650 - $73,400 per year, based on a 37-hour workweek and assuming no overtime pay.
Responsibilities- Coordinates care for clients by collaborating with the interprofessional care team, performing intake functions, conducting mental health assessments, and developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive treatment plans.
- Plans and provides direct nursing care to clients, including reviewing client/family history, conducting physical/psychosocial assessments, assessing vital signs, and developing a care plan specific to each client.
- Works from a strengths-based model, using motivational interviewing and engagement techniques, and collaborates with clients and professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Establishes, maintains, and enhances therapeutic relationships with clients and their informal support networks, engaging stakeholders in treatment planning and evaluation, providing support and follow-up planning, and promoting and supporting clients to manage self-care.
- Provides treatment services, including crisis intervention, individual counseling, and education, according to various theoretical models, and consults with colleagues when required.
- Initiates and participates in case conferences/meetings with clients, family members, service providers, and members of the interprofessional team to ensure a coordinated approach to treatment.
- Acts as a client advocate to protect and promote clients' rights to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing.
- Two years of recent related experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
