Job Title: Chief of Forestry and Peatland Management

The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly qualified individual to assume the role of Chief of Forestry and Peatland Management within the Department of Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources. The chosen candidate will be instrumental in formulating and executing policies related to forestry and peatland management throughout the province.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Extensive senior management experience complemented by a degree in forestry, natural resource management, public administration, business administration, or a closely related discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in forestry and peatland programs, policies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in managing teams, strategic planning, and evaluating programs.
  • Experience in collaborating with Indigenous communities and a strong understanding of natural resource management challenges.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with various stakeholders.
  • Political insight to provide strategic guidance on multifaceted issues.
  • Proficiency in financial oversight and budget management.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Assistant Deputy Minister of Natural Resource Stewardship, the Chief of Forestry and Peatland Management will oversee program development, financial oversight, and human resource management for the Forestry Branch. This position entails the creation and enforcement of policies, guidelines, legislation, and regulations pertinent to forestry and peatland management in Manitoba.
