Climate Change Forestry Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mitigation and Adaptation Forester to join our team at the Manitoba Government. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing climate change mitigation and adaptation activities related to boreal forest management and renewal practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on activities relating to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
- Implement related projects and develop policies relating to boreal forests and/or peatlands.
- Develop and implement climate change mitigation and adaptation activities related to boreal forest management and renewal practices.
- Work with Indigenous peoples and communities to develop and implement climate change mitigation and adaptation activities.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of Forestry legislation and policy.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree in forestry, natural resource management, environmental management, or biological sciences.
- Experience developing and implementing climate change mitigation and adaptation activities related to boreal forest management and renewal practices.
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with stakeholder groups and in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.
- Strong written communication skills, including technical writing and preparing synthesis documents.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
Working Conditions:
- Must be willing and able to travel to remote locations throughout the Province of Manitoba via truck, all-terrain vehicle, boat, and by rotary or fixed wing aircraft.
- Must possess and maintain a valid full Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent from other provinces without any restrictions.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime when required, and work out-of-town for extended periods with overnight accommodations in bunkhouses, hotels, and tents.
