Job Opportunity

The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of Director of Forestry and Peatlands within the Department of Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program planning and implementation for the Forestry Branch, including forestry staff across the province.
  • Financial management and human resource management for the Forestry Branch.
  • Development, implementation, and enforcement of Manitoba's forestry and peatlands resource policies, guidelines, legislation, and associated regulations.
Requirements
  • Senior management experience with a post-secondary degree in forestry, natural resource management, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience working with forestry and peatlands related programs and issues and related policies, legislation, and regulations.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience successfully coordinating, fostering, and developing multi-disciplinary teams to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Experience in strategic program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Experience engaging directly with Indigenous people, communities, and/or organizations and demonstrated knowledge of related natural resource management issues.
  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to foster collaboration and partnerships with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent political acumen including experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex and sensitive issues.
  • Financial management and budgetary experience.
