Job Title: Chief of Forestry and Peatland Management

The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly qualified individual to take on the role of Chief of Forestry and Peatland Management within the Department of Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources. The chosen candidate will be instrumental in developing and executing policies related to forestry and peatland management throughout the province.

Required Qualifications:

  • Significant leadership experience complemented by a degree in forestry, natural resource management, public administration, business administration, or a similar discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge and extensive experience in programs, policies, and legislation pertaining to forestry and peatlands.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in managing teams, strategic planning, and program assessment.
  • Experience collaborating with Indigenous communities and a solid understanding of natural resource management challenges.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with various stakeholders.
  • Strong political insight to provide strategic guidance on intricate matters.
  • Experience in financial oversight and budget management.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Assistant Deputy Minister of Natural Resource Stewardship, the Chief of Forestry and Peatland Management will oversee program development, financial oversight, and human resource management for the Forestry Branch. This position entails the formulation and enforcement of policies, guidelines, legislation, and regulations concerning forestry and peatlands in Manitoba.
