Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Associate Physician to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our pediatric clinical teaching unit, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with our attending physicians, and contribute to the development of our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive patient care, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and consultation services.
  • Work under the supervision of an attending pediatrician to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to medical staff policies.
  • Collaborate with our team to assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of inpatients with emergent conditions.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the education and training of junior staff members.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC in the Associate Physician – Community class or Acute class.
  • Certification in PALS and NRP prior to commencing orientation and maintenance of such certification throughout employment.
  • Canadian Citizenship, permanent residency, or legal ability to live and work in British Columbia.
  • Excellent English communication skills, including with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Computer and written communication skills, including order entry, clinical documentation, and ability to review relevant diagnostic information and health history.
Evaluation Period

During a 12-week probationary period, you will undergo assessment and evaluation of your competence to perform the duties in the intended specialty areas under a supervising physician.

The evaluation will include assessment of basic clinical skills, communication skills, ability to function as a member of a clinical team, specialized knowledge and skills applicable to the intended clinical placement, clinical decision making, and clinical documentation.
