We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pediatric Associate Physician to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our pediatric clinical team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our attending physicians to deliver exceptional medical services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical services to pediatric patients under the supervision of an attending physician, including evaluating, diagnosing, and treating acute, chronic, and complex illnesses, diseases, injuries, and functional disorders.
- Work collaboratively with the attending pediatrician to provide care to patients in critical/acute care settings, including assessing, stabilizing, and determining the disposition of inpatients with emergent conditions.
- Perform history and physical examinations, advance care planning, and order and interpret diagnostic studies, including laboratory, diagnostic imaging, and electrocardiograms.
- Administer medications normally considered part of the practice of hospital medicine, under the supervision of an attending physician.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
- Eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC in the Associate Physician – Community class, or Acute class, and sponsorship by Northern Health Authority.
- Certification in PALS and NRP, with the ability to maintain such certification throughout employment.
- Canadian Citizenship, permanent residency, or the ability to live and work in British Columbia.
- Excellent English communication skills, including with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Computer and written communication skills, including order entry, clinical documentation, and the ability to review relevant diagnostic information and health history.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment and carry out professional duties in the face of multiple, competing demands.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
During a 12-week probationary period, the successful candidate will undergo assessment and evaluation of their competence to perform the duties in the intended specialty areas under a supervising physician. The evaluation will include assessment of basic clinical skills, communication skills, the ability and willingness to function as a member of a clinical team, specialized knowledge and skills applicable to the intended clinical placement, clinical decision-making, and the appropriate use of clinical and diagnostic resources.
