Unit Clerk, Ambulatory Care Chemo Unit Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our Ambulatory Care Chemo Unit team at PHSA. As a Unit Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our unit, providing exceptional patient care, and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient appointments, diagnostic tests, and procedures, ensuring timely and efficient scheduling.
- Process clinician orders, prepare requisitions, and communicate with patients and healthcare teams.
- Organize and maintain accurate patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries, and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
Requirements
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, including standing, walking, and lifting.
- Ability to keyboard 40 wpm and operate related equipment.
- Ability to utilize a variety of computer software applications, including electronic health records.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports.
