Medecins Sans Frontieres is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Specialist to join our team.

Description of Duties

The Mental Health Specialist will be responsible for providing high-quality mental health care to individuals affected by conflict, disasters, and other crises. This includes conducting individual clinical consultations, organizing therapeutic group activities, and recruiting, training, and supervising local mental health professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions with patients
  • Develop and implement mental health programs in collaboration with local authorities and MSF teams
  • Supervise and train local mental health staff to ensure they are equipped to provide high-quality care
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Ensure adherence to MSF's medical protocols and guidelines

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A medical degree and specialized training in psychiatry or psychology
  • At least two years of experience working in a mental health setting, preferably in a humanitarian context
  • Experience working with patients who have been affected by trauma, including those with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), HIV/AIDS, and other chronic conditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
