About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Health Care Social Worker to join our team at Dartmouth General Hospital in the Central Zone. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, this role will provide a diverse range of interventions to clients and their families, enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health.

The Health Care Social Worker will report to the Program Manager and be actively involved in advocacy, education, program planning, consultation, and collaboration on behalf of individuals and groups within the institution and community. The role is multifaceted and dynamic, requiring the Health Care Social Worker to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced clinical social worker who possesses a Master's Degree in Social Work from a recognized university and is registered or eligible for registration with the NSCSW. The ideal candidate will have two years of clinical experience as a clinical social worker and possess strong counselling and communication skills.

The successful candidate will have the capacity to achieve a high degree of autonomous practice and be able to work within a multidisciplinary team context. Knowledge of abortion care and options counselling is an asset, as is knowledge of issues related to family violence, sexual abuse, addictions, grief and loss, end of life, disability, crisis intervention, caregiving, and continuum of care.

Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French preferred. The candidate will be able to provide a variety of interventions, including psychosocial assessments, adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counseling, resource counseling, discharge planning, and case management.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary in the range of $37.31 - $49.05 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the candidate will be entitled to a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, a pension plan, and paid time off.
