About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Indigenous Health Expertise Specialist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority.

This is a permanent full-time position, with 75 hours biweekly. The salary range for this role is $36.51 - $45.64 hourly.

As an Indigenous Health Expertise Specialist, you will provide leadership and guidance to achieve and continuously improve culturally safe and appropriate health services for Mi'kmaw and Indigenous peoples.

You will enable the development and support of a culturally safe, diverse and inclusive workplace by leading planning and implementation of activities focused on cultural safety and liaising, facilitating connection with and supporting Mi'kmaw and Indigenous Health leads within Nova Scotia.

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Allied Health field, Public Administration, Health Services Administration, Business Administration or relevant areas of study, and significant knowledge of Indigenous peoples across Nova Scotia and the Maritimes.

They will also have experience as a health professional, demonstrated commitment to promoting and advocating for systemic change that addresses and advocates for health transformation initiatives that improve access and experience to the health system for Indigenous people in NS and reduces health inequities and anti-indigenous racism.

The ideal candidate will be able to communicate and build coalitions effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders using a variety of methods and have innovative systems thinking with an understanding of working with priority communities.
