About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Cancer Information Specialist to join our team at the Canadian Cancer Society. As a key member of our Cancer Information Helpline, you will play a vital role in providing emotional support and accurate information to Canadians living with cancer, their loved ones, and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to cancer information inquiries from clients through phone, Live Chat, and email, providing empathetic support and accurate information on cancer diagnoses, treatments, side effects, and more.
  • Assess client needs and provide tailored information and resources, ensuring a high-quality experience for each interaction.
  • Collaborate with the Cancer Information department to identify information gaps and share resources to meet client needs.
  • Participate in special projects and knowledge transfer activities to advance core knowledge and skills, such as COVID-19 protocols and onco-fertility.
  • Contribute to our culture of justice, belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring all staff feel represented and heard.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of related practical or clinical experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Strong client service, supportive care, communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex cancer information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work within a team, receive, and adapt to performance feedback.
