Advisor, Human Resources Role Summary

The Fort McKay First Nation seeks a dedicated professional with excellent interpersonal skills to join our team as an Advisor, Human Resources. Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, this position will support various human resources functions within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain trusted working relationships with client departments.
  • Lead and assist with managing HR projects and programs, including developing project plans and business cases.
  • Research and recommend performance evaluation methods.
  • Design and implement organizational human resources policies.
  • Train hiring managers on progressive discipline and application of organizational policies.
  • Conduct internal surveys to gather employee feedback and identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitor key recruitment metrics.
  • Address employee requests and potential issues.
  • Work with the Senior Recruiter and Communications to organize employer branding initiatives.
  • Act as the point of contact for hiring managers, employees, and other HR team members.
  • Evaluate employee benefit plans.
  • Use and assist in the management of human resource information systems.
  • Handle employee relations, contract negotiation, and administration.
Requirements
  • A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • A Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is considered an asset.
  • Five years of similar and progressive work experience in a human resource generalist role.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and human resource best practices.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, professionalism, uphold confidentiality, and remain calm and neutral in sensitive situations.
