Physician Liaison

Job Summary:
The Physician Liaison is a key member of the Prairie Mountain Health team, responsible for reducing the administrative burden on physicians and providing practice-specific support. This role serves as an ambassador for PMH, interacting with medical providers and allied health workers to improve navigation of available resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain physician orientation processes to enhance knowledge of regional and provincial services.
- Conduct regular facility tours to solicit feedback from new physicians and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide timely and effective support to new physicians, including phone calls, in-person meetings, and online services.
- Curate and maintain a directory of services within PMH, collaborating with clinics, hospitals, and physician groups.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of diagnostic services, including available tests, locations, and ordering procedures.
- Ensure seamless computer access for new physicians.
- Offer a broad overview of PMH services, tailored to the specific community.
- Arrange dedicated orientation time for new physicians with Department Chiefs, Site CMOs, and Clinic physicians.
- Collaborate with communities receiving new physicians to curate local resources, including family support information.
- Conduct regular check-ins with new physicians to the region.
- Regularly tour facilities and clinics to solicit feedback from established physicians on patient navigation issues.
- Perform exit interviews and report notable issues and patterns to Executive Management.
- Define available procedures within PMH.
- Outline referral processes for PMH and Winnipeg.
- Identify clinical issues suitable for virtual resolution.
- Determine services requiring physician referrals versus those allowing self-referral.
- Document community resources and access procedures.
- Communicate new and updated services to physicians through targeted communications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
