About the Role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a key member of our care team at Retirement Concepts, providing high-quality care to our residents in an Assisted Living setting. As a LPN, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities and duties of those who deliver direct resident care, ensuring that our residents receive the best possible care.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and advise residents on health matters, maintaining their independence and autonomy.
  • Ensure resident-focused care is provided by our staff, respecting their rights and dignity.
  • Oversee the administration of prescribed medications and treatments, adhering to established standards and regulations.
  • Monitor and document changes in residents' physical and psychological conditions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, adhering to facility policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with other disciplines and departments to ensure quality-focused resident care.
  • Maintain competency through ongoing education and staff meetings.
  • Assist residents with care when required, including activities of daily living.
  • Ensure equipment and supplies are stored and maintained according to policy and procedure.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of facility policies and procedures, including those concerning medication administration and safety procedures.
  • Encourage a holistic philosophy of wellness, respecting residents' autonomy and decision-making.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved program for Practical Nurses and holds a current Full Scope License with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
  • Two years' recent experience as a practicing LPN, preferably in an Assisted Living or long-term care setting
  • Must be in good health and free from communicable diseases, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand, and walk as required to perform the duties of the position
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in the English language
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with the various individuals involved in providing holistic care in a flexible resident-focused environment
  • Ability to operate related equipment
