About the Role

Sierra Space is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Organizational Design Intern to join our Human Resources team. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in organizational design, culture transformation, and change management. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in HR and organizational strategy by contributing to various projects aimed at enhancing organizational effectiveness.

Our Interns have the unique experience of getting both mentoring and coaching while working side by side with recognized industry experts on real-world assignments directly related to their field of study. Bring your knowledge and desire to learn, and we will provide the experience. Summer internships are typically 10-12 weeks starting in late May/early June and work an average of 40 hours a week.

As an intern in the Talent Development team, you will lead a project focused on organizational design. Your work will help establish best practices for aligning our business and talent objectives and will leave a lasting impact at Sierra Space. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to learn fundamental business processes and procedures, build your technical foundation through practice and mentorship, and participate in an in-depth program built by our University Recruiting team, that includes cross-functional workshops and meeting with leadership to gain understanding of the business and Sierra Space culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the analysis and design of organizational structures, roles, and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support the development and implementation of programs aimed at improving organizational effectiveness
  • Conduct research on best practices in organizational design and human resource management
  • Compile and analyze data related to workforce planning, team member surveys, and organizational performance
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation to support decision-making and communication within the HR team and across the organization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address organizational challenges and implement effective HR solutions
  • Document development processes, technical specifications, and user guides for HR initiatives and programs
  • Participate in HR meetings and provide input on current practices and potential enhancements

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Must have at least one academic term remaining after the completion of the internship
  • Students must be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior undergraduate student or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. Program
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Strong organization skills and work ethic; detail-oriented

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or completed a Master's or Ph.D. program in Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field
  • Prior experience/internships in organizational development, human resources, or related areas
  • Comprehensive understanding of change management processes and methodologies
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Familiarity with contemporary leadership development programs and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough and impactful research to inform organizational development strategies
  • Outstanding writing skills, with the capacity to produce high-quality reports, training materials, and presentations

Compensation:

Business Operations Intern Sophomore/Junior/Senior: $25.00/hour

Business Operations Intern Master's: $30.00/hour

Business Operations Intern PhD: $32.00/hour
