About the Role

Kiewit, a major industrial contractor, is seeking a skilled Safety Manager to join their team. As a key member of the project team, the Safety Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the well-being of staff, craft employees, subcontractors, and consultants on energy construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans and procedures specific to energy projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and Kiewit's safety standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess safety risks, promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability across all levels of the organization.
  • Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, analyzing root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and standards applicable to energy construction, coordinating with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.

Requirements

  • Education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, preferably in the energy sector.
  • Professional certification in safety management (e.g., NCSO) and CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification, and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and travel to project sites as needed.
