Detailed Job Description

The Finance and Corporate Services department is looking for a motivated professional with strong problem-solving capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and effective organizational skills. This position is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial reporting associated with donations and grants.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Senior Financial Analyst in delivering financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting services to the Advancement department.
  2. Verify the accuracy of data transferred from the fundraising platform to the financial system, including performing account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
  3. Prepare and record journal entries related to donations, grants, and external funding sources.
  4. Monitor donations and grants within the financial system, ensuring adherence to donor restrictions and reporting obligations.
  5. Generate required monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, and assist auditors with data requests.
  6. Clearly communicate financial insights related to donations to various stakeholders within the organization.
  7. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and institutional policies.
  8. Support the financial operations of the NAIT Foundation, a key fundraising entity.
  9. Engage in ongoing process evaluations and enhancements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Strong foundation in accounting principles, particularly regarding Canada Revenue Agency guidelines and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS).
  2. Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  3. Detail-oriented self-starter with robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
  4. Effective communication skills to engage with diverse members of the organization.
  5. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and advanced functions.
  6. Familiarity with various software applications, with a preference for experience in PeopleSoft Finance, Microsoft 365, and Salesforce.
Educational Background:
  1. Completion of a 2-year Accounting Diploma.
  2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in an intermediate accounting role is essential.
  3. Preference for candidates with experience in public sector or educational settings.
  4. International educational credentials should be evaluated by recognized services.
Compensation Package: $57,932.94–$73,528.00 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

This position is governed by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
