About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Improvement Specialist to join our team at Maple Leaf Foods Inc. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading and supporting process improvement efforts across the company, driving business productivity, and enhancing shareholder and customer value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Improvement Leadership: Lead and support process improvement initiatives across the organization, identifying and quantifying Critical Business Needs (CBN) and primary opportunities for improvement.
  • Operational Excellence: Facilitate the OEE Continuous Improvement process with cross-functional site teams, setting annual OEE improvement targets, and facilitating weekly status reviews and action planning.
  • Continuous Improvement Planning: Support the development of the site CI plan, including project pipeline and monitoring the overall progress and status of the plan.
  • Methodology Application: Ensure CI project teams are utilizing the appropriate improvement methodology, including training on tools and application as required.
  • Business Case Development: Conduct business case and risk analysis as required, providing CI Project Management support utilizing the DMADV / PDCA framework.
  • Best Practices Research: Research and apply functional best practices within project scope.
  • Sustainable Results: Ensure sustainable results through the application of change management and pragmatic control plans.
  • Coaching and Development: Provide coaching to leaders on Six Sigma, Lean, and OpEx methodology & tools.
  • Operations Excellence Deployment: Support Site Leaders in the deployment of the Operations Excellence framework, including annual baseline assessment and pillar team deployment.
  • Functional Objectives: Understand and support functional objectives and strategies.
  • Opportunity Identification: Assist with the identification and quantification of major opportunity areas, including the re-application of learning across the organization.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Sit on management teams at plant sites, and be open to coaching and actively learn within the role.
Requirements
  • Education: University degree (BSc., Engineering or Operations Management).
  • Experience: Minimum 5 to 8 years of full-time work experience, depending on level of responsibility; experience in manufacturing or supply chain and commercial, finance, or other transactional functions an asset.
  • Track Record: Track record of delivering winning results.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including application of process improvement and quality tools.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate well (verbal and written) with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
  • Change Management: Demonstrated ability to effect change through influence.
  • Leadership and Coaching: Has led and/or coached prior continuous improvement projects, and is considered a strong coach on continuous improvement concepts.
  • Complex Project Management: Experience in leading complex projects that require strong leadership, initiative, and change management would be an asset.
  • Lean Six Sigma: Previous experience with Six Sigma tools and methodology is a requirement.
  • Lean Methodologies: Demonstrated ability to implement and teach Lean Methodologies and Operational Excellence.
