Position Overview:

The Home Care Attendant (HCA) plays a vital role in delivering essential personal care and support services to clients in their homes. This position is integral to the Home Care team, working under the guidance of the Home Care Resource Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and home support services to clients as per established care plans.
  • Assist clients who are frail, physically disabled, or mentally challenged, ensuring they can remain in their homes safely.
  • Utilize independent judgment to prioritize tasks and determine appropriate work methods.
  • Maintain a high standard of service consistent with the mission and values of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in both English and French is required.
  • Completion of Grade 12 education.
  • Possession of a Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Knowledge of Safe Food Handling practices.
  • Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals in a community setting is preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and respect for confidentiality.
  • Commitment to meeting the physical and mental demands of the role.
  • Good attendance and work record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Completion of a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Immunization as a condition of employment.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance.

Note: This position may be subject to early termination as per collective agreements. All candidates must undergo a security check that is current within six months prior to employment.
