Position Overview:
The Home Care Attendant (HCA) plays a vital role in delivering essential personal care and support services to clients in their residences. Under the guidance of the Home Care Resource Coordinator, the HCA collaborates with the Home Care team to ensure that individuals receive the necessary assistance to maintain their independence and well-being at home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care and home support services to clients as per established care plans.
- Assist clients who may be frail, physically disabled, or mentally challenged, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Utilize independent judgment to prioritize tasks and determine appropriate care methods.
- Adhere to the mission, vision, and values of the organization while delivering care.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in both English and French is required.
- Completion of Grade 12 education.
- Possession of a Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate from an accredited institution.
- Understanding of Safe Food Handling practices.
- Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals in a community setting is preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong critical thinking skills and respect for confidentiality.
- Commitment to supporting a culturally diverse population.
- Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the role.
- Good attendance and work record.
Physical Requirements:
- Completion of a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Immunization as a condition of employment.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
