Position Overview:
The Home Care Attendant (HCA) plays a crucial role in delivering essential personal care and support services to clients in their residences. This position is vital for enabling individuals, particularly those who are elderly, physically challenged, or mentally impaired, to maintain their independence and quality of life in a safe environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care and home support services to clients as per established care plans.
- Assist clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Utilize independent judgment to prioritize tasks and determine appropriate actions in various situations.
- Collaborate effectively with the Home Care team and adhere to the mission and values of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in both English and French is required.
- Completion of Grade 12 education.
- Possession of a Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate from an accredited institution.
- Knowledge of Safe Food Handling practices.
- Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals in a community setting is preferred.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong critical thinking skills and respect for confidentiality.
- Commitment to meeting the physical and mental demands of the role.
Physical and Employment Requirements:
- Must complete a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Immunization is required as per organizational policy.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance are necessary.
Additional Information:
