Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Procurement and Customs Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role involves overseeing compliance with all relevant government regulations regarding import/export and trade practices while supporting the procurement and planning departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead initiatives aimed at achieving cost savings in maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO).
  • Prepare and manage documentation necessary for export transactions.
  • Evaluate eligibility and oversee the approval process for supplier-generated USMCA certificates.
  • Review customs documentation to ensure accurate reporting of value, HTS classification, and applicable exemptions.
  • Maintain and update Tariff Codes and country of origin classifications.
  • Address and resolve supply chain disruptions linked to customs or governmental requirements.
  • Provide guidance on regulatory compliance for import/export activities.
  • Support compliance with USMCA and other preferential trade programs.
  • Contribute to supply chain security initiatives, including PIP-CTPAT.
  • Manage legal interpretations related to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Country of Origin determinations, and Customs Valuations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure adherence to import/export laws and regulations.
  • Create and send purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in confirmations and pricing.
  • Engage with suppliers and collaborate with teams to source new products.
  • Support corporate MRO buyers on various projects.
  • Oversee the maintenance of supply vending machines.
  • Assist the procurement and planning teams with additional duties as required.
  • Help team members achieve departmental and organizational objectives.

You anticipate challenges and develop effective contingency plans while fostering strategic partnerships to cultivate and sustain valuable relationships.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, College degree, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent post-secondary certification.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in trade compliance and product classification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Willingness to take on tasks beyond assigned responsibilities.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CTCS (Certified Trades Compliance Specialist) designation completed or in progress.
  • CIFFA (Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association) designation completed or in progress.
  • CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designation completed or in progress.
  • Experience in preparing commercial invoices.
  • Knowledge of product classification (HTS).
  • Familiarity with rules governing country of origin and valuation.
  • Experience with USMCA declarations.
