Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Procurement and Customs Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring adherence to all governmental regulations concerning import/export and trade compliance while supporting the procurement and planning teams in various tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives related to Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO).
  • Prepare and manage documentation necessary for export operations.
  • Evaluate eligibility and oversee free trade agreements, including supplier-generated USMCA certificates.
  • Examine customs entries to guarantee accurate value declarations, HTS classifications, and exemptions.
  • Maintain and update Tariff Codes and country of origin classifications.
  • Address and resolve supply chain disruptions linked to customs or governmental requirements.
  • Provide guidance on regulatory compliance for import/export activities.
  • Support USMCA and other preferential trade programs to ensure compliance.
  • Contribute to supply chain security initiatives such as PIP-CTPAT.
  • Manage issues related to the legal interpretation of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Country of Origin designations, Customs Valuations, and duty drawbacks.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure compliance with import/export laws and regulations.
  • Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring confirmation and pricing accuracy, and track deliveries as needed.
  • Engage with suppliers and collaborate with teams to source new products.
  • Support corporate MRO buyers on various projects.
  • Oversee the maintenance of supply vending machines.
  • Assist the procurement and planning teams with additional duties as required.
  • Help team members achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, College degree, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent post-secondary certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in trade compliance and product classification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Willingness to undertake tasks beyond assigned responsibilities.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CTCS (Certified Trades Compliance Specialist) designation completed or in progress.
  • CIFFA (Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association) designation completed or in progress.
  • CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designation completed or in progress.
  • Experience in preparing commercial invoices.
  • Knowledge of product classification (HTS).
  • Experience with determining country of origin and valuation rules.
  • Familiarity with USMCA declarations.
