Job Summary:

The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) is dedicated to enhancing health care services across British Columbia. This role is pivotal in aligning with PHSA's Purpose, Vision, Values, and strategic objectives, with a strong emphasis on safety for both patients and employees.

As the Lead for Strategic Initiatives and Innovations, you will be responsible for orchestrating, executing, and collaborating with essential partners within the organization and the province. Your focus will be on driving strategic initiatives and innovations that align with the priorities of the Provincial Language Service (PLS).

This position entails supporting various projects, proposing new initiatives, and contributing to the strategic priorities, including the development, integration, execution, and assessment of initiatives aimed at enhancing language access and equity.

You will be tasked with researching, proposing, and implementing innovative tools and technologies to improve language access for diverse communities. Your leadership will extend across a range of projects, providing expertise on strategic priorities, developing key resources, participating in provincial working groups, and advising health system partners.

A significant focus of this role will be the establishment of an Indigenous Language Access service delivery model, which will involve community engagement and relationship-building with Indigenous communities throughout the province.


Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants of Indigenous Ancestry in accordance with the British Columbia Human Rights Code. Applicants are encouraged to self-identify in their cover letter or resume.

Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in Health Administration or a related health discipline, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in strategic systems and large-scale change initiatives in equity and access fields.

Experience in collaborative networks, coalitions, and multi-partnered projects within a healthcare setting is essential, including at least three years in a leadership capacity.

  • In-depth knowledge of Indigenous cultural safety and humility in health services, with completed training in these areas.
  • Extensive understanding of the impacts of Canadian colonialism on Indigenous populations, complemented by knowledge of Indigenous ways of knowing.
  • Comprehensive awareness of the social, economic, political, and historical contexts affecting Indigenous communities, along with advanced knowledge of Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation such as FIPPA and BC DRIPA.
  • Appreciation of the unique histories, cultures, and rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada, along with a commitment to understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action.
  • Proven ability to lead change and inspire others to engage in transformative behaviors.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to maintain effective partnerships.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion initiatives with a focus on early years.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to convey information succinctly.
  • Demonstrated results-oriented approach in establishing action plans.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Experience in creating resources and knowledge translation initiatives.
