The Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation (VPRI) is tasked with encouraging, facilitating, administering, and promoting research at SFU; advocating for university research broadly; and steering policy development at both university and governmental levels.

Position Overview

This role will report directly to the Director of Special Initiatives within the VPRI office and will oversee the management of key university projects and initiatives. A primary focus will be on the development of a comprehensive university artificial intelligence (AI) strategy that encompasses research, teaching and learning, external collaborations, and university operations.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and a minimum of five years of relevant experience in project management, communication strategy development, business case formulation, and risk management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong understanding of project management best practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organizational, strategic planning, and project management abilities.
  • Outstanding analytical reasoning, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent facilitation, negotiation, listening, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Superior verbal, written, and presentation skills to effectively engage with all organizational levels.
