Position Overview
The Senior Director of Special Projects will provide expert consultation, strategic advice, and direct support to advance various projects and initiatives for the office of the Vice-President, Finance and Administration (VPFA). This role, under the guidance of the VPFA and the Executive Director of the VPFA Office, will offer senior-level vision and leadership for multiple complex, institution-wide projects aligned with SFU's strategic objectives, ensuring that academic, financial, operational, and resource aspects are optimized. The Senior Director will oversee all phases of the project lifecycle, from planning and development to implementation, while leading the delivery of regular project updates, communications, and reporting.
The ideal candidate will be self-driven, requiring minimal oversight, possess excellent communication skills across all levels, and demonstrate the ability to analyze information necessary for problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
A Master's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, along with five years of relevant experience in managing complex projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. PMP and/or accounting designations are advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
- Proficient understanding of business intelligence and analytics.
- Solid knowledge of financial administration and accounting principles.
- Exceptional change management and project management capabilities.
- Outstanding leadership, consensus-building, interpersonal, and communication skills.
