Job Title: Manager of Operations

Job Summary:

The Manager of Operations plays a critical role in the success of The MEARIE Group by efficiently overseeing the construction, maintenance, and use of the overall electrical distribution system. This position is responsible for ensuring all activities are executed in a healthy and safe manner with technical competence and in compliance with the latest standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of the Electrical Distribution System: Develop and maintain the Distribution System Plan, Management Plan, Mapping, and SCADA systems.
  • Planning and Preparation: Prepare plans, cost estimates, and layouts for new/upgraded service installations, capital projects, and maintenance works.
  • Safety and Compliance: Promote and ensure the safety of all staff, outside parties, and the general public, while adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement the strategic plan, goals, objectives, and policies of the company.
  • Process Improvement: Implement new or modified work methods and techniques to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Operational Management: Manage operational activities related to provincial Electricity Transition plans, provide direction and oversight of field personnel and contractors.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare and submit regular reports to the President and Operations Committee, respond to requests for information from the public, and deal with public complaints and service requirements.

Requirements:

  • Education: A minimum Power Line Technician Certificate of Qualification / Interprovincial Red Seal or Certified Engineering Technician / Technologist Diploma.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Electrical Utility Sector, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role with people management.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of the regulated utility environment, including utility operations, electrical distribution system construction methods, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and public relations skills, with the ability to deal effectively with internal and external contacts.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project, as well as the ability to learn and utilize various utility and organization-specific software.

What We Offer:

The MEARIE Group offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $118,000 - $133,000, robust group benefits, and an OMERs pension plan.
