About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Superintendent to join our team at Colas. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall on-site management and administrative direction to ensure project success.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with design, budget, and schedule requirements.
  • Lead and manage construction activities, including productivity, work performance, and efficiency of employees and subcontractors.
  • Contribute to the development of construction plans and manage subcontractor activities.
  • Ensure construction compliance with design requirements and quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain a safe work environment, adhering to safety and record-keeping requirements.
  • Document and report all injuries, and fill out incident reports as necessary.
  • Advise management of potential problems, work interferences, or schedule difficulties, and assist in resolving conflicts.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by superiors or required for successful project completion.
  • Assist with preparation of as-built drawings and coordinate equipment usage for maximum efficiency.
  • Advise the Operations Manager of quality assurance issues or problem areas.
  • Maintain job diaries and site photos.
  • Confirm quantities and payments with owner's representative and subcontractors.
Requirements
  • Construction-related degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction experience in road construction, fine grading, culvert installation, or other related activities.
  • Experience with GPS survey and grade control systems is an asset.
  • Effective leadership skills and ability to engage and manage crews.
  • Ability to lead and evaluate trade performance.
  • Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings, and other documents.
  • Computer knowledge, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and MS Word.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and communicate with others.
  • Ability to work long hours in sometimes rough weather conditions.
  • Valid Class G License and clean driver's abstract.
  • Willingness to travel and live according to project location.
