Position Overview:

As a Project Superintendent at Miller Paving South Western Ontario, you will play a crucial role in overseeing daily construction operations. Your leadership will ensure that all on-site activities are executed efficiently and in accordance with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all daily construction activities on-site.
  • Lead efforts to enhance productivity and monitor the performance of both employees and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Assist in formulating a comprehensive construction plan and supervise subcontractor operations.
  • Ensure compliance with design specifications throughout the construction process.
  • Maintain high standards for project materials and workmanship, aligning with established quality benchmarks.
  • Implement and uphold The Murray Group's Safety Program to foster a secure working environment, while complying with safety regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Document and report any incidents, completing necessary injury and accident reports.
  • Proactively communicate potential issues, work disruptions, or scheduling conflicts to management, assisting in resolution efforts.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by supervisors to facilitate successful project completion.
  • Support the preparation of as-built documentation, including details of roads, parking areas, driveways, and excavations.
  • Coordinate the use of both owned and rented equipment on-site to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Notify the Operations Manager of any quality assurance concerns or areas needing attention.
  • Maintain detailed job logs and photographic records of site progress.
  • Verify quantities and payments with the owner's representative and subcontractors.
  • Complete other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications:

  • Degree in construction management or a related field, or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in construction, particularly in roadwork, fine grading, culvert installation, or similar activities.
  • Familiarity with GPS surveying and grade control systems is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a proven ability to manage and motivate teams.
  • Essential skills in evaluating trade performance.
  • In-depth knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety protocols, scheduling, cost management, quality assurance, and engineering documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Physical capability to navigate stairs, ladders, and uneven terrain.
  • Willingness to work extended hours in varying weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as project demands dictate.
  • Possession of a valid Class G driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Readiness to travel and adapt to project locations as required.
